This event is for anyone who is coping with loss (whether recent or in the past), their own individual loss of health, or is in a caregiving capacity.
This session will be led by Rue Wilson, a CAMHS Grief Counselor, and Tammy McLeod, a Harvard Chaplain and Certified Grief Educator.

Event Schedule
Welcome Address and Remarks
Professor Sheila Heen
Understanding the Grief Experience
Rue Wilson & Tammy McLeod
We’ll talk about some of the common ways grief shows up—emotionally, physically, and mentally. The goal is to help make sense of your experience and remind you that there’s no “right” way to grieve. We’ll acknowledge the challenges of balancing loss with academic demands and share some additional resources.
Group Discussion and Reflection Session (Optional)
Rue Wilson & Tammy McLeod
We’ll offer a supportive space to connect with others and remember that you’re not alone in what you’re going through. Hearing and sharing experiences can help ease the sense of isolation that often comes with grief. You’re welcome to listen or share—there’s no expectation to disclose anything.
*Staff and faculty will not be present during this session
Event Facilitators
Rue Wilson is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked at CAMHS for over 15 years. She has co-facilitated the Grieving and Coping Together student group since 2020. In addition to her work in grief, her clinical interests include supporting international and first-generation students, addressing imposter syndrome, treating anxiety and depression in young adults, and providing supervision and training.
Tammy McLeod serves as the President of the Harvard Chaplains and as a Harvard Chaplain for Christian Impact & Athletes in Action. Tammy received her Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation and is a Certified Grief Educator. She has facilitated grief groups at Harvard for a decade and has trained Harvard peer counselors in how to serve those grieving. She and her husband Pat together published the book Hit Hard: Letting Go of What Was and Learning to Live Well with What Is in which they share their journey into the world of ambiguous loss that began after their son, Zach, suffered a traumatic brain injury playing high school football. They have been featured on numerous TV, radio, and podcast interviews and have spoken around the country hoping to help others navigate ambiguous loss with greater resilience and meet God in the midst of suffering.
