The EU is making waves in global trade with recent bold moves to boost competitiveness and tackle trade challenges head-on. The Omnibus Proposal, in sync with the Competitiveness Compass and the Draghi Report, aims to streamline trade regulations and enhance the EU’s business appeal for international players.
On the frontlines of unfair trade practices, the European Commission now mandates the registration of all imports under anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations, cracking down on unfair competition from third-country producers. Recent CJEU case law also targets artificial production relocations designed to dodge new trade remedy measures.
The EU’s robust sanctions against Russia continue in response to its aggression against Ukraine, with measures targeting key sectors and individuals. How do these sanctions stack up against those from the US?
Lastly, the EU is not backing down from the new US tariffs on steel and aluminum. With countermeasures already in place and more potentially on the horizon, the EU is poised to defend its position in global trade.
