12:15 pm - 1:15 pm
WCC; 3015 Room
Please join the Harvard Law and Philosophy Society for a discussion of when criminal punishment is justified for juveniles and emerging adults and how young offenders should be treated differently from adults. Lunch will be provided!
We’ll be reading Chapter 2 of Gideon Yaffe’s “The Age of Culpability: Children and the Nature of Criminal Responsibility” (available online at the Harvard Library) and pages 224-229 of Commonwealth v. Mattis, 493 Mass. 216 (2024). No prior experience required – all are welcome! Please note that the readings include descriptions of violent crime that may be disturbing.
