Please join the Harvard Law School Equal Democracy Project for a book talk with author Mike Zamore, with discussion moderated by Professor Larry Schwartztol. Food will be served.

Mr. Zamore’s book, co-written with U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, Filibustered! How to Fix the Broken Senate and Save America, addresses a critical part of the biggest question of the year: will we hang onto our teetering democracy? The explosion of filibustering in the U.S. Senate over the last 15 years—far, far different than anything we’ve ever seen—has created crippling congressional gridlock, breaking many Americans’ faith in their government and in democracy itself. Fixing the broken Senate is not only necessary to address key policy priorities people want like reproductive rights and voting rights and addressing the gun violence epidemic; fixing the dysfunctional Senate is crucial to saving government of, by, and for the people. The book is part history, part insider stories from the Senate, and most importantly, part political how-to manual to fix the broken Senate so it works for all of us.
