Art Transactions and Agreements – Buyers/Sellers, Artists/Gallerists

Join the Harvard Art Law Organization for a moderated panel with Tanya Layne (HLS ’02), Chief Legal Officer at Gagosian, and Monica Kwok (HLS ’18), Senior Associate at Goodwin Procter and mixed-media artist. 

Drawing on their distinct vantage points as in-house counsel at one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries and as a transactional attorney with firsthand experience as an artist, they will discuss the legal landscape of high-value art sales, consignment agreements, and artist representation. Topics will include key terms in art transactions, the evolving role of moral rights across jurisdictions, and how representation agreements are adapting to social media and digital markets. Lunch will be provided.
