Course emphasis is on western water law. It includes the origin, development, and current status of prior appropriation and riparian water law systems; the public trust doctrine; federal/state relations in water use regulation and delivery; and interstate allocations though compacts and equitable apportionment. Indian and other federally reserved water rights are also covered.
