Spring 2027 Course

Torts

Exam Type: In Class

Tort law addresses civil liability for non-promissory harm to persons, property, and some intangible interests. This course covers the main doctrinal areas of tort law: intentional torts, negligence, strict liability, and products liability. Learning the “black letter” rules of tort law is, of course, a focus of the course. But we will also examine the real-world functioning and theoretical foundations of tort law. Throughout the course, we will consider the basic purposes which our tort system achieves or should achieve.
