Abstract: This Symposium seeks to use the Jena Six case as a vehicle for exploring troubling modern problems of racial justice in the American criminal justice system. The purpose of this Introduction is to offer the reader a factual overview of the case, explain its socio-legal significance, outline the Symposium’s goal, and summarize how each of the articles in this Symposium seeks to further that goal.
