Abstract: This manual is intended to provide a general overview of asylum law and procedure to the volunterr practitioner who has little or no immigration law experience. It provides a detailed description of the procedures for applying for asylum (preparing and filing an asylum application for Haitians, including interviewing techniques, and applying for work authorization; framing the claim; theories of the case; preparing for the asylum interview and responding to a denial; a description of the legal asylum; and hearings before the immigration courts. It includes also extended appendises.
