In Memoriam

We pay tribute and hold dear the memories of our classmates who have passed away. Although they are no longer with us, their enduring presence will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts and within the Harvard Law School community.

Class Remembrances

Jill L. Feldman

Alice “Ali” Bers remembers:

Although it’s been ten years since Jill died, her loss still feels very raw to me. I think that’s because Jill was so rare. She was such a radiant person, with a smile and a happy energy that no one could forget. I sat next to her the first day of a seminar on institutional reform litigation and that was that—we became friends.

While Jill was a stellar scholar, gifted writer, and an advocate for the public interest, I will mostly remember her in role as a loving family member to her son, husband, and mother, and as an amazing friend. When she died, I used the words of EB White: “You have been my friend … That in itself is a tremendous thing.” Though she was part of our class, Jill was also “in a class by herself.”

Peter Sinclair

Toby Stock remembers:

Peter stood out from the pack. He had a ready smile and enjoyed mixing it up in a friendly but forceful way in debates on ideas. I was especially grateful for his counsel as we prepared together for consulting interviews. And of course, he had a great baseline jump shot in pick-up games at Hemenway. He will be missed.
