HLS Advocates for Human Rights (“Advocates”) is a student practice organization dedicated to human rights work and advocacy on campus and beyond. Advocates is comprised of Harvard Law School students who are interested in human rights work and advocacy. The organization gives students who are interested in human rights an opportunity to participate in human rights-related projects and to become a part of Harvard Law School’s human rights community.
What Does Advocates Do?
As a student practice organization (SPO), we have four main areas of focus:
- We work with human rights practitioners and NGOs from around the world on student-led projects, through which our members conduct research, draft written products, and engage in human rights advocacy.
- We promote awareness of human rights issues on campus both independently and in collaboration with other student organizations, including by organizing events at Harvard Law School.
- We organize training sessions and career advising programs to support students seeking to pursue human rights careers.
- We seek to foster a strong human rights community at HLS.
Harvard Law School is committed to the full inclusion of students with disabilities in the life of the University. Students requesting accessibility resources or accommodations in any of HLS’s Clinical and Pro Bono Programs may work with Accessibility Services in the Dean of Students Office. If you are a student with a documented disability and you are requesting accommodations, please contact HLS Accessibility Services to discuss and register for accommodations.
