An independent clinical opportunity is available in the Legal Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for the Fall 2022 semester. The student will work on legal issues arising out of the Bank’s technical research into central bank digital currency systems, as well as matters related to the operation of emergency lending facilities established under the CARES Act. There may also be some discrete assignments on other legal topics during the semester. Depending on the needs of the Legal Department and the student’s interests, responsibilities are likely to include research and analysis, preparation of legal memoranda, assistance with criminal and oversight investigations, and trial preparation, among other things. This placement will preferably be for 3 credits (meaning 12 hours of work per week during the semester), though a 2 credit placement (8 hours per week) may be possible. Professor Tarullo will be the faculty supervisor. Once a student is selected by the Federal Reserve Bank, the student will be required to submit an independent clinical application.
