The HLS Vis Moot Court Team participates in the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition (https://vismoot.pace.edu). The moot attracts over 300 participating schools from around the world every year and is judged by some of the world’s preeminent arbitrators, litigators, judges, and international law scholars. The moot is based on a fictitious commercial dispute between two parties in an international arbitration. As a member of HLS Vis Moot Court Team, you would work with your teammates to write a Claimant and Respondent brief during Fall and Winter, and then compete in oral arguments against teams from around the world in Spring. This year, we will be sending teams to both the Vis Moot and its sister competition, the Vis Moot East.
If you are interested in joining the team, the first step is to fill out the application form (https://forms.gle/6W75jeKue7CgEaVNA). By submitting an application, you will be added to our mailing list and will receive the tryout packet and tryout sign-up sheet when they are released. Tryouts will take place the weekend of September 26th-27th. Prior moot experience or international law background is not necessary, and all those interested are strongly encouraged to apply. 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls and LLM students not already licensed to practice law are all welcome and eligible to compete.
If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and check out our website (https://orgs.law.harvard.edu/mootcourt/vis/tryouts/).
