Harvard Law School offers a number of internships, fellowships and funding opportunities for current and graduating students interested in international, comparative and foreign law.
The International Legal Studies program administers several of these programs, including:
- the International Legal Studies Post-Graduate Fellowships, supporting a graduating HLS student or recent J.D. or LL.M. graduate who will be clerking or interning at an international or foreign regional/supranational court or tribunal
- the Dean Acheson Legal Stage Program, offering unpaid internships at the Court of Justice of the European Union
- The Salzburg Cutler Fellows Program in International Law and Public Service, which offers 2Ls, 3Ls and LL.M. students opportunities for academic feedback and career advice from established international law scholars and practitioners, and for networking among students interested in careers in international law
- the Chayes International Public Service Fellowships, which provide 1Ls, 2Ls and S.J.D. candidates in residence with the opportunity to spend eight weeks during the summer working abroad with governmental or non-governmental organizations concerned with issues of an international scope or relevant to countries in transition
- Winter Term International Travel Grants, which provide funding to Harvard Law School J.D. and LL.M. students to pursue independent clinical or research/writing projects abroad during Winter Term
- International Legal Studies Discretionary Grants, which defray some of the travel expenses for qualifying students engaged in independent study projects abroad
