Dear HLS Faculty and Staff,

This notice is concerning a maintenance event that will impact VoIP and Jabber phone service.

What is happening?
VoIP phone service and Jabber users connected to the Harvard network in Pound Hall and 50 Church St. will lose service for approximately 1 hour and experience periodic outages on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 8:00 PM through 3:00 AM on July 14.

Please note VoIP phone settings (call forwarding and single number reach) will not be affected. Jabber users connected to the service via a non-Harvard network, a hotspot, or a mobile device in the noted locations will not be impacted by this event.

Additionally, all Jabber users will lose connectivity to the service for approximately 15 minutes between 8:00 PM and 12:00 AM.

HUIT Networking will be replacing ageing infrastructure to continue the campus router lifecycle program. Verizon is adding additional monitoring servers in their VZ Jabber domain.

What do I need to do?
All Jabber users will need to re-login if connectivity is dropped and after the maintenance is complete.
