Kathy Holub is a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, where she has taught the Winter Negotiation Workshop since 2006.

Holub is a consultant in family wealth advising and dispute resolution, working primarily with high-net-worth families and their advisors.  A facilitator and mediator, she helps clients navigate conflict – often involving estates and family businesses – while improving family dynamics.  She holds certificates in Family Business Advising and Family Wealth Advising from the Family Firm Institute.

Holub also serves as a negotiation advisor to entrepreneurs and business teams.  She has created and led a wide range of negotiation training programs, both in the U.S. and internationally, for senior executives, lawyers and other professionals.  Her clients have included Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, the Brunswick Group, Naspers, Cleary Gottlieb, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Clinton Foundation, Columbia University, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Montefiore Medical Center, and the New York City Council.  She has taught continuing education programs for the New York City Bar Association and is a frequent speaker on negotiation-related topics.

Holub began her teaching career at Columbia Law School, where she has taught negotiation since 2001.  She has also taught negotiation workshops at Yale Law School.

A former journalist and Pulitzer Prize-winner, Holub has edited four books, including “Bargaining With the Devil: When to Negotiate, When to Fight,” by Robert H. Mnookin (Simon & Schuster 2010), and “Beyond Winning: Negotiating to Create Value in Deals and Disputes,” by Mnookin, Scott R. Peppet, and Andrew S. Tulumello (Harvard University Press 2000).

Holub holds an A.B. in Government from Harvard College and a J.D. from Yale Law School.  She served as a law clerk to then-U.S. District Judge Sonia Sotomayor in the Southern District of New York and practiced law for two years before moving into teaching and consulting.
