 aching and devastating ways. How and why do conspiracy theories gain tracti
 on? How are news and social media platforms trying to curb the proliferatio
 n of these falsehoods? What is the impact of conspiracy theories on individ
 uals and their loved ones\, and what makes us susceptible to believing the 
 unbelievable?</p><p>The Institute for Rebooting Social Media welcomes BKC-N
 ieman Fellow <strong>Ben Reininga</strong> and Nieman Fellow <strong>Jessel
 yn Cook</strong> to share their insights into how platforms navigate the sp
 read of conspiracy theories\, and the impact they have on individuals\, fam
 ilies\, and communities\, moderated by BKC Faculty Director <strong>Jonatha
 n Zittrain</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>This event will be held at the Berkman K
 lein Center (room 515) from 12:30pm-1:30pm ET. Lunch will be served! In-per
 son attendance is limited to Harvard ID holders\, but the general public is
  invited to attend virtually via Zoom.</p>
