In our current cultural climate\, human se lf-understanding faces a double challenge. First\, the rapid emergence of A rtificial Intelligence provokes profound questions concerning the nature of intellect\, knowledge\, and creativity. Secondly\, the environmental crisi s raises critical concerns about humanity’s relation to the non-human world in the order of creation. Against this background and drawing on scriptura l\, theological and philosophical resources\, this 2026 Harvard Theological Forum keynote address by Prof. Simon Oliver\, Van Mildert Professor of Divinity and Head of the Theology and Religion Department\, D urham University\, UK\, will explore an anthropology arising from scripture \, the theology of creation\, and the metaphysics of life.
