Since 2006\, persons with disabilities’ human rights have been protected by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The many over laps between the disability community and the aging populations\, as well a s their common human rights challenges\, will invariably inform how governm ent delegates and civil society representatives approach the multilateral p rocess for negotiating a new international treaty on the rights of older pe rsons. This event will explore how negotiators might build on the notable i nnovations of the CRPD and also avoid certain pitfalls that have manifested during the first two decades of CRPD implementation.
