utcome Reasons and Process Reasons in Normative Constitutional Theory."
The talk will take place
on Thursday\, February 23\, from 12:15 to 1:15
p.m. in WCC 3016. Professor Solum is the William
L. Matheson and Robert M. Morgenthau Distinguished Professor of Law and Do
uglas D. Drysdale Research Professor of Law at the University of Virginia S
chool of Law. He was previously a faculty member at the Georgetown Universi
ty Law Center. Professor Solum is a world-renowned legal theorist specializ
ing in legal philosophy\, civil procedure\, and constitutional theory. He i
s a prolific writer who has shaped many aspects of the debate between origi
nalism and constitutional theory. Professor Solum has also famously coined
the term "Virtue Jurisprudence\," a highly original theory about the nature
and purpose of law that has sparked great interest across Asia\, Europe\,
and North America. A graduate of HLS and UCLA\, Professor Solum served as a
n editor of the Harvard Law Review\, worked for the law firm of Cravath\, S
waine\, and Moore in New York\, and clerked for Judge William A. Norris of
the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Professor Solum is also th
e editor of the influential
Legal Theory Blog\, an amazi
ng and constantly updated resource for whoever is interested in normative l
egal theory. We are delighted to welcome him back to HLS for this fascinati
ng event!
