 ce issued a historic advisory opinion concluding that Israel’s decades long
  occupation and annexation of Palestinian territory is illegal under intern
 ational law and that all nations had the duty to recognize it as such and n
 ot assist its perpetuation. Professor Ardi Imseis served as Legal Counsel t
 o the State of Palestine before the ICJ and will discuss the recent Israeli
  Policies Advisory Opinion and the counter-hegemonic potential of internati
 onal law.</p><p>Prof. Imseis has served in senior legal and policy capaciti
 es with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees i
 n the Near East (UNRWA) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refuge
 es (UNHCR) as well as on the United Nations commission of inquiry into the 
 civil war in Yemen. He has provided expert testimony in his personal capaci
 ty before various high-level bodies\, including the UN Security Council\, t
 he UN Human Rights Council\, and the UN Committee on Economic\, Social and 
 Cultural Rights.</p>
