James Yoon is Acting Assistant Deputy Chief of the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Sec tion at the U.S. Department of Justice\, helping to oversee federal investi gations and prosecutions involving ransomware\, computer hacking\, theft of trade secrets\, digital piracy\, trademark counterfeiting\, and illicit us e of cryptocurrency. He previously served as the International Computer Hac king & Intellectual Property Attorney Advisor for Asia\, stationed at the U .S. Consulate General in Hong Kong through the U.S. Department of State. Pr ior to that\, James held various roles at the U.S. Department of Justice\, including senior counselor to the Assistant Attorney General for the Crimin al Division\, senior trial attorney in the Human Rights and Special Prosecu tions Section\, prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern Di strict of Virginia\, and Honors Attorney in the Antitrust Division. James i s a graduate of Yale University and Cornell Law School.
