Come eat lunch and hear from Natalie Cadwa lader-Schultheis\, a human rights and immigration lawyer at Human Rights Fi rst who is researching the ways that the U.S. Government uses enforced disa ppearance as a tool of immigration management. Her talk with focus on the w ays that pre-existing and emerging immigration policies\, including CBP cus tody\, ICE detentions not properly registered\, interdictions at sea\, cert ain CBP in-custody deaths\, family separations\, pushbacks to Mexico\, and transfers to third countries often constitute enforced disappearances under international law. She will discuss her research which has been published in the Journal on Migration & Human Security\, forthcoming article in the S anta Clara Law Review\, past and ongoing advocacy with the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances\, and intervention in individua l and coalition amicus briefing at the Mexican Supreme Court.
