Improving Outcomes for Farmers and Ranchers of Color

The Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers (SDFR) Policy Research Center (Policy Center) located at Alcorn State University will provide an update of the work being performed by the Policy Center. Discussion includes an overview of the Policy Center, authorized in the 2014 Farm Bill to be a voice for SDFR and to ensure that data driven information is available to Congress, USDA, and other stakeholders to advance the success of SDFR. Updates will be provided in the four areas of focus for the Policy Center—active research, policy development, stakeholder engagement and strategic outreach–and the 2023 priorities of the Policy Center related to advancing the success of SDFR. Discussion includes recommendations for the 2023 Farm Bill and current administration policies to address issues and concerns of SDFR.
