ndmark decision in Citizens United v. FEC\, the constitutional bat
tle over money in politics is far from over. Join the Federalist Society fo
r a discussion with Alan Gura\, the constitutional litigator best known for
successfully arguing District of Columbia v. Heller before the Su
preme Court\, and Harvard Law Professor Stephen Sachs. The discussion will
examine state legislative efforts to challenge or circumvent Citizens U
nited\, the First Amendment protections afforded to political spending
\, and whether states can constitutionally restrict the influence of money
in elections. Is Citizens United a necessary vindication of politi
cal speech\, or has it placed democratic self-government beyond the reach o
f meaningful reform? Lunch will be served.
