The Climate Crisis is the defining challenge of the 21st century. Despite the urgency of the challenge, many governments have failed to enact the transformations necessary to avert disaster. This workshop considers the role of constitutional law and theory both as a cause and a response to the Climate Crisis. We will consider how constitutions structure government decision-making, as well as the role of courts in adjudicating constitutional questions ranging from constitutional rights to the future of the administrative state.
This not-for-credit workshop covers practice and theory from a wide range of jurisdictions and legal traditions. It is open to all students and affiliates of HLS and other Harvard schools: No prior knowledge is required.
