Viroopa Volla is a Senior Associate at Alva rez & Marsal (A&M) in San Francisco\, where she works in the firm’s North A merican Commercial Restructuring practice. She advises high-stakes restruct urings and special situations involving companies facing financial distress \, helping management teams and stakeholders navigate complex bankruptcy pr oceedings and execute value-preserving solutions. Her experience spans liqu idity planning\, liability management\, and Chapter 11 execution\, with a f ocus on translating legal and financial complexity into actionable strategy .
Prior to joining A&M\, Viroopa built a multidisciplinary fo undation across finance\, consulting\, and law. She worked in investment ba nking at Goldman Sachs and PJT Partners and in management consulting at McK insey & Company\, developing deep analytical and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments. She also held roles at Walmart and Star India\, broadening her exposure to corporate operations across industries and geog raphies.
Viroopa earned her A.B. in Economics cum laude from Harvard College\, followed by a J.D. from Harvard Law School\, whe re she was named an Olin Fellow in Law and Economics\, and an M.B.A. with h onors from Harvard Business School through the joint JD/MBA program. She is admitted to the State Bar of Texas. While at Harvard\, she served as Co-Pr esident of the JD/MBA Association and as a Pforzheimer House Resident Tutor \, mentoring students interested in careers at the intersection of law and business. She currently serves as Chair of the Harvard Law School Class of 2021 5th Reunion Committee.
As an HLS Alumna-in-Residence\, V iroopa looks forward to meeting with students interested in restructuring\, bankruptcy\, and non-traditional legal career paths\, including roles in r estructuring advisory and distressed investing. She is particularly eager t o connect with women and students from underrepresented backgrounds and to offer candid\, practical guidance on building careers at the intersection o f law\, finance\, and business.
