Frederick Fogel serves as General Counsel\, overseei ng Baupost’s legal\, compliance and transaction structuring teams\, and is also a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Before joining Baupost in 2015\, Fred was the General Counsel at Silver Point Capital\, a Connecticu t-based investment adviser focused on credit and special situations. From 2 002-2004\, he was a Managing Director and General Counsel at Ziff Brothers Investments\, where he was responsible for all of the firm’s legal affairs. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel for a pu blicly traded information technology services provider. Fred was an associa te and then Partner at Fried\, Frank\, Harris\, Shriver & Jacobson from 198 6 through 2002. Fred began his legal career as a clerk for the Hon. Gary St ein in the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and graduated magna cum laude from Harv ard College. Fred is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Leadership E nterprise for a Diverse America.
