A Sovereign Hawai’i

NALSA and APALSA invite HLS students to a screening of the 2021 short documentary “This Is The Way We Rise,” which follows poet, activist, and academic Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osorio and her call to protect sacred sites atop Maunakea, Hawai’i.

The 12-minute screening will be followed by a moderated panel on the topic of Hawai’i Sovereignty featuring Ciara Leinā`ala Lacy (Filmmaker), David M. Forman (Co-Director, Environmental Law Program, William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa), and David Kauila Kopper (Director of Litigation at Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation). Dinner will provided for the first 20 RSVPs.
