“What Is Justice in the Mississippi Delta?” Discussion Series: Environmental Justice

September 30, 2020 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Environmental Justice: Transitioning from Climate Change to Climate Justice
Mississippi has a long history of environmental racism, and the added pressures of a changing climate will deepen the disparities between those who are able to live in a safe, healthy environment and those who are not. How do communities in the Mississippi Delta build a sustainable future while still fighting for clean drinking water and other ongoing environmental justice battles? What does environmental justice look like for the low income communities and communities of color in the Delta, and across the country, who have borne the weight of environmental degradation? How can political leaders, activists, lawyers, and concerned community members help build an environmentally just future?
