Paul Zevnik, an entrepreneur who helped found a national law firm and helped build a global media network serving the Hispanic consumer, will speak about his career path and choices at the Traphagen Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series lunch on Wednesday, April 17, at 12:00 p.m. in Lewis 214A. Paul is the head of the Product Liability, Tort and Insurance Practice Area of the Litigation Practice Group at Morgan Lewis in DC.
Paul is best known for his global insurance recovery efforts on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, encompassing all known and unknown mass and toxic tort, product liability, operations, and environmental liabilities in a single, strategically located proceeding; for his ability to manage the defense of disparate liabilities cost-effectively on a national basis; and for his use of creative settlement techniques, captive insurance, and qualified settlement funds in bankruptcies and restructuring, including through the use of tax-advantaged special purpose vehicles.
In 1977 he began private practice in Washington, D.C., initially focusing on environmental law and litigation and media transactions. He later broadened his practice to include insurance recovery, toxic tort and product liability defense. In 1993 he and three other partners founded a national law firm which grew to 90 lawyers. In 2003, the firm’s lawyers joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, opening Chicago and Boston offices while supplementing practices in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco.
During the 1990’s, Paul was involved in the development and expansion of Entravision Communications Corporation. A leading global media company, Entravision engages Latinos across a variety of media channels in the U.S., Mexico and other Latin American markets. Currently, Entravision owns and operates 55 television stations, 49 radio stations, a 300-affiliate radio network, a media representation firm, various websites, and Headway Digital, a worldwide provider of mobile technology and content. Paul currently serves as the presiding independent director.
Paul attended Harvard College and Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. After graduating from the Harvard Law School, he was a Fellow at the MIT-Harvard Joint Center For Urban Studies.
