Lesley Rosenthal is Chief Operating Officer & Corporate Secretary at The Juilliard School. Since July 2018 she has overseen business areas of the school including strategic planning, facilities, finance, production, recording, and more. Previously she was the EVP – General Counsel & Secretary of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, leading the legal function and participating broadly in the management of the world’s leading performing arts center for 13 years.
Lesley has taught and guest-lectured at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Georgetown, and the University of Miami, as well as in Europe and Asia, on topics of nonprofit management, governance, and law. Her book, Good Counsel: Meeting the Legal Needs of Nonprofits, is used widely throughout the sector.
Lesley holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Harvard College. She began her career as a judicial law clerk in the federal court in Manhattan, and spent 13 years as a litigator at Paul Weiss. She is president of the New York Bar Foundation, founding board chair of Friends of Afghanistan National Institute of Music, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
