“The Judge” film screening and discussion

Palestinian Judge Kholoud Al-Faqih became the first woman to be appointed to a Shari’a bench in the Middle East in 2009. “The Judge” follows her journey, from defending victims of domestic violence as a young lawyer, to her tenacious ability to maintain her position – showcasing the power of women’s leadership both inside and outside of the courtroom. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Erika Cohn, and Palestine legal historian Professor Elizabeth Brownson (University of Wisconsin Parkside), and moderated by ILSP: LSC Faculty Director Professor Kristen Stilt.

Dinner will be served.
