Professor Bernard Septimus is the Jacob E. Safra Professor (Emeritus) of Jewish History and Sephardic Civilization at Harvard University.

He is the author of *Hispano-Jewish Culture in Transition* (Harvard University Press, 1982). He edited (with Isadore Twersky) *Jewish Thought in the Seventeenth Century* (Harvard University Press, 1987); and co-editor of *Me’ah She’arim: Studies in Medieval Jewish Spiritual Life in Memory of Isadore Twersky* (Magnes Press, 2001). He is also the author of some 100 studies (that have appeared in a variety of scholarly journals and publications), whose dazzling range of topics include talmudic studies, Hebrew philology, Jewish liturgy, medieval Jewish history, philosophy, poetry, and more.
