Professor Hal Scott will discuss the Capital Markets Regulation Fall course he will teach at the Harvard Kennedy School, that meets from 4:30-6:30 on Wednesdays, and answer questions during the Zoom session. This course examines important current issues in the regulation of U.S. capital markets and the financial system, with emphasis on the global financial crisis, reform efforts since then, and potential future actions in light of the COVID-19 crisis. Topics will also include current market reform debates on securities and derivatives trading as well as regulation of FinTech and digital currencies. Classes will be primarily based on lectures and interactive discussion, and will invite regular guest speakers including former heads of regulatory agencies.
