On behalf of Ms. Rayhan Asat (Harvard Law School, LLM ‘16) and the Harvard Human Rights Working Group, we invite you to attend a commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the internment of Ms. Asat’s brother, Mr. Ekpar Asat. Mr. Asat is a Uyghur entrepreneur, media-founder, philanthropist, and alumnus of the State Department’s International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), who was forcibly disappeared by the Chinese government on April 7th, 2016.

The event will be held virtually at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7th, and will be open to both the Harvard community and the broader public. We hope that this event will amplify our calls for Ekpar’s freedom and demonstrate our solidarity with Ekpar and his family in their fight to bring Ekpar home. Please see the full program that will feature many great speakers, human rights advocates, Harvard and Youth students who will pay a tribute to Ekpar.

This event is co-sponsored by HLS Advocates for Human Rights, The Trebuchet, Jewish Movement for Uyghur Freedom, and the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights.

The Harvard Human Rights Working Group (HRWG) is sponsored by Harvard’s Committee on Ethnicity Migration, Rights, and supported by The Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and the International Human Rights Clinic at Harvard Law School.
