Climate Change and Environmental Racism

Join the Environmental Law Society in welcoming Maria Belen Power, Associate Executive Director of local social and environmental justice nonprofit GreenRoots, for a discussion on environmental racism and addressing the justice challenges posed by climate change. Ms. Power will share her years of experience as a community organizer leading campaigns both in the Boston area and nationally, and strategies for creating community-centered solutions.

Maria Belen Power is the Assoc. Executive Director of GreenRoots where she oversees their environmental justice campaigns and supports the work of the ECO youth crew. She represents GreenRoots in the Green Justice Coalition of Greater Boston, and other national environmental and climate justice movements. She has prior organizing experience organizing with undocumented immigrants, day laborers, and public housing tenants.

GreenRoots is a community-based organization in Chelsea, MA working to achieve environmental and social justice through deep and meaningful community engagement.

Non-pizza lunch will be served.
