Central Bank Digital Currencies: Promising Experiment? [HLSBFI Conference]

Central Bank Digital Currencies are promising, and many governments are experimenting with them. Though both CBDCs and Bitcoin are digital currency, the nature of CBDCs is contrary to the decentralized underpinnings of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin that seek to move away from a centralized mode of regulation of money. What are the advantages of adopting CBDCs? How close are we to seeing them operationalized? CBDC expert JP Schapper-Casteras will guide us through the regulatory hurdles and potential benefits of this system of the future.
