The Law and International Development Society presents “Capitalism and the Climate Crisis: Why Growth Can’t Be Green.” Discussion will center on the links between the global financial system, sovereign debt, and the mounting challenges of climate change. Dr. Hickel will reveal the limits of liberal climate politics, debunk the myth of “green growth,” and share his thoughts on the path to sustainable development and a fairer, more ecologically sound world economy.
Jason Hickel is a UK-based author and anthropologist. He has taught at the London School of Economics, the University of Virginia, and the University of London. He serves on the Labour Party’s task force on international development and writes regularly for The Guardian.
