The Alumni in Residence program connects current HLS students with accomplished HLS alumni for one-on-one career mentoring and advice. You’re invited to meet with Greg Dovel JD’86 during virtual office hours. Sign up for a 20-minute Zoom appointment.
Greg Dovel JD’86
Greg Dovel is a partner in Dovel & Luner, a firm of trial lawyers who represent plaintiffs suing big companies in courts across the country.
After graduating from Harvard Law School (magna cum laude), Greg served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and Justice Antonin Scalia. Greg was a partner at a large law firm before forming his own litigation boutique in 1995.
Dovel & Luner has three distinguishing features: (1) Only success-based fees. Lawyers should not be paid for billing time on a case; they should be paid only for obtaining excellent results. (2) The law firm is built to win. Every aspect of the firm—from hiring and training to case staffing and meetings—is optimized to win cases. (3) Continuous improvement. The highest skill level can be achieved only through deliberate practice. At least twice a week, the firm’s lawyers practice cross-examination, presentation, and other persuasion skills in the firm’s “Trial Lab.”
