Al-Muwatta’ Book Talk

December 9, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

Online Conference: http://bit.ly/2P8fUrE
RSVP: http://bit.ly/33J0VtF (RSVP requested for in-person attendance only)

On the occasion of the publication of a new translation of al-Muwaṭṭaʾ, one of the earliest treatises on Islamic law, the Program in Islamic Law is hosting a public book talk. The book talk will engage the broader community in conversations about this new translation and the significance of the text, which has central, enduring relevance for Islamic law and society across time and place. It will feature commentary on the book from the author-translators, as well as from an esteemed panel of commentators. Published by PIL and distributed through Harvard University Press, this new translation of al-Muwaṭṭaʾ was based on a Moroccan first-of-its-kind critical edition published in 2013. A reception and book signing will follow this event. Light lunch will be served. Co-sponsored by the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Islamic Studies Program at Harvard.

Please RSVP for in-person attendance at this event through the link provided above.
