A Discussion of “Second Amendment sanctuaries” with Everytown for Gun Safety

January 30 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

In many states, the enactment of common sense gun safety laws has led to counties and municipalities declaring themselves to be “Second Amendment sanctuaries.” Most notably, the election of a democratic majority in Virginia has led to dozens of counties passing resolutions declaring their opposition to gun violence prevention measures and that they will not enforce laws they deem unconstitutional. Bill Taylor (HLS ’99) and Molly Thomas-Jensen (HLS ’08), litigators from Everytown for Gun Safety, will talk about this trend, what it means for gun safety, and what role the courts may play in determining the legality of these resolutions.

Lunch will be served!

Cosponsored by ACS and the DOS Grant Fund.
