OPIA’s Spotlight Series: State and Local Government

OPIA’s Spotlight Series provides students with an informal overview of public interest practice areas. This session will focus on state and local government, exploring the variety of legal issues and work types in these settings. Pick up some summer internship application tips and discover entry routes into these fields after graduation. An OPIA adviser will lead a brief presentation and then open up the conversation to Q&A. Lunch will not be provided at this event, so you are encouraged to eat before or after the program.

Work Authorization for Continuing Students (F-1 CPT, OPT and J-1 AT)

Applying for internships at the United Nations Secretariat is a multi-step process that can be perplexing to navigate. In this off-the-record virtual program, Wasserstein Fellow and Advisor in the Office of United Nations Secretary-General Naresh Perinpanayagam will discuss how to identify opportunities and the mechanics of submitting applications in the UN online recruitment system, Inspira. The target audience are 1Ls or 2Ls considering internships in the summer of 2022.

The Program on Biblical Law and Christian Legal Studies will show the movie "Emanuel," the 2019 documentary film directed by Brian Ivie about the Charleston church shooting that killed nine Emanuel AME church members in an act of terror. There will time for conversation and reflection following the showing.
