Hear Wasserstein Fellow and Chief Deputy Attorney General for Tennessee Jonathan Skrmetti speak about his experience litigating on behalf of both federal and state governments, including insights on the differences between the two and tips for how to get hired by each. He will also talk about transitioning into and out of private practice. Finally, Jonathan will talk about some of the prominent work state attorneys general have been engaged in lately, including the $26 billion opioids settlement, the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy, and the multistate antitrust suits against Google and Facebook.

Juanita C. Hernández is a Senior Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C, focusing her practice on litigation matters. Previously, she was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas, served in the Justice Department as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division and was a litigator practicing in major law firms in San Antonio. She clerked for the Hon. William Wayne Justice, then Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Juanita is a seasoned speaker on litigation, employment law, and securities law as well as diversity issues. She is also an experienced leader and organizer in various bar associations, professional and alumni groups. Register here.
