The Sarita and Claire Wright Lucas Foundation (SCWLF) offers competitive programs that provide monetary awards to exceptional black female law students.
Law school graduates often face financial challenges while preparing for the Bar exam, including prep course costs and living expenses, especially for those in public service. Our goal is to support women of color in public service and promote positive change in the justice system and communities. The SCWLF offers $5,000 scholarships to Black women law students for Bar exam expenses. After one year as a prosecutor, recipients receive an additional $5,000.
Additionally, the SCWLF sponsors a summer Fellowship Program for Black female law students from ABA-accredited Massachusetts law schools. It offers paid summer internships in the Massachusetts District Attorney’s offices, focusing on public interest careers as prosecutors. Fellows gain valuable court experience, supervision, and skills development.
