Professor Sheila Heen, the Thaddeus R. Beal Professor of Practice, and who led the LLM orientation session on “Conversations in the Classroom and in our Community” in August currently has a few open seats in the January term Winter Negotiation Workshop, and some open seats in the Spring Negotiation Workshop, and is particularly interested in adding LLMs who will bring international and real-world negotiation experience to the classroom. LLMs join HLS JDs and cross-registrants from HKS, HBS, HMS, HGSE, Tufts Fletcher, and MIT Sloan to create a rich community of experiential learning.

The Workshop provides analytical tools and practical skills that build on the capabilities you have already developed; LLM alumni of the Workshop describe it as among their most valuable take-aways from their year in Cambridge.

Both courses are team taught by faculty with a rich array of experience, and included negotiation cases drawn from a wide variety of contexts, including contracts, employment disputes, international conflicts, human rights issues, family law and dealmaking. Each includes the chance to get personal coaching from faculty on a real conversation in your own life. Because you negotiate every day, the course is a significant time investment; it is also a lot of fun, where you have the opportunity to develop lifelong friendships and working relationships.

To register, add the course through the HLS Registrar, and drop us a note to sheen@law.harvard.edu to let us know you would like to add the course. We will work with the Registrar to try to ensure you get a seat.
