Harvard’s Group Long-Term Disability (LTD) Plan carrier is changing. Beginning June 1, 2017, Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston (“Liberty Mutual”) will administer Harvard’s Group LTD Plan.

If you are not enrolled in LTD, Liberty Mutual is offering a one-time special enrollment period from April 24, 2017 – May 5, 2017, during which you can enroll without evidence of insurability. Coverage would be effective on June 1, 2017. If you are eligible for this special enrollment offer, you will receive an information package at your home with details on the plan provisions and costs and an enrollment form.

LTD is a voluntary benefit, and you will only be enrolled if you elect this coverage. I encourage you to learn more about this opportunity to protect your income and provide financial security for you and your family.

If you are already enrolled in LTD coverage and actively at work, you do not need to do anything. Your coverage will automatically transition from The Standard Insurance Company [“The Standard”] to Liberty Mutual effective June 1, 2017. The benefits under the Group LTD Plan are not changing; however, your premiums will be slightly lower with Liberty Mutual.
