“How We Disappear” is a teach-in on redefining and reconceptualizing violence against women, specifically positioning the carceral state as a second [or sometimes initial] perpetrator. We will examine initial acts of interpersonal violence as well as deconstruct how our legal system not only fails victims but actively acts to coverup sexual and domestic abuse (including missing persons cases — expansion on what “missing” women means). Finalizing points on alternatives to justice and moving beyond politics of reform.
