Michelle will discuss her path to the C-suite at one of world’s largest employers, challenges she faced along the way, and her outlook on the rapidly changing legal and technology markets.
In her current role, Michelle reports to IBM’s Chairman, President and CEO, Ginni Rometty. Michelle is responsible for IBM’s global legal, security, privacy and compliance activities and policies, as well as IBM’s environmental and government and regulatory affairs functions. Her previous experiences include serving as IBM’s Global Head of Litigation, Litigation Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois and Trial Advocacy Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University School of Law. Michelle is a Board member of the Pro Bono Partnership, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association, and was appointed by the Chief Judge of New York State to the Commercial Division Advisory Council in 2013. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Michelle received a B.S.E., summa cum laude, from Princeton University; an S.M. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University; and a J.D. from The Yale Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of The Yale Law Journal.
