Please join HALB and Akin Gump for a discussion of “The Evolving Legal Landscape” with Kim Koopersmith, Chairperson of Akin Gump, and Professor David Wilkins. Ms. Koopersmith and Prof. Wilkins will discuss how the practice of law has changed in recent years and their expectations for the future. Specifically, they will address how firms are adapting through the use of new delivery models, fee arrangements, and technology, and what young attorneys can do to better prepare themselves for future practice.
Kim Koopersmith is the chairperson of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Ms. Koopersmith guides the strategic direction of the firm, heads the firm’s management committee and plays a leading role in ensuring the firm’s continued commitment to the highest levels of client service and in strengthening its dedication to diversity, pro bono work and attorney excellence. She has played a key role in the enhancement of the firm’s overall performance, earning recognition for her innovative and transformative approach to law firm leadership. Some notable awards include being named to The Lawyer’s “Hot 100” list in 2015 and as an “agent of change” by Women of Influence magazine in 2014 for her efforts to promote a diverse work environment and flexible work schedules. She is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and University of Pennsylvania.
